Help us make Golf Handicap & Slope available in more languages!
The plugin is currently available in the following languages:
We want to make the plugin available in as many languages as possible, and we need your help to achieve this.
Download translate.txt which contains all the texts to be translated.
The file uses the standard WordPress translation format with msgid
and msgstr
pairs:
msgid "Course Handicap Calculator" msgstr "" msgid "Plus handicaps should be entered with a + sign (e.g. +5). Maximum handicap is 54" msgstr "" msgid "Which tee?" msgstr ""
Open the file in a text editor (such as Notepad, VS Code, or similar) and add your translations in the msgstr
fields.
For example, to translate to German:
msgid "Course Handicap Calculator" msgstr "Vorgabe-Rechner" msgid "Plus handicaps should be entered with a + sign (e.g. +5). Maximum handicap is 54" msgstr "Plus-Vorgaben sollten mit einem +-Zeichen eingegeben werden (z.B. +5). Maximale Vorgabe ist 54" msgid "Which tee?" msgstr "Welcher Abschlag?"
Important rules for translation:

in the translationsWhen you have finished the translation:
translate-german.txt
or translate-de.txt
We will review the translation and include it in the next version of the plugin.
WordPress uses the gettext system for translations. This is a standard format used by many programs and makes it easy to translate texts.
Each text string has a unique identifier (msgid
) and a translation (msgstr
).
WordPress uses several file formats for translations:
You don't need to worry about these formats - we will convert your text file to the correct format.
WordPress uses standardized language codes to identify translations:
Here are some examples of how the translations look in the plugin:
"Course Handicap = Handicap Index × (Slope Rating ÷ 113) + (Course Rating – Par)"
"Spillehandicap = Handicap Indeks × (Slope Rating ÷ 113) + (Course Rating – Par)"
"Vallarforgjöf = Forgjafarvísitala × (Slope Rating ÷ 113) + (Course Rating – Par)"
When translating, try to keep the technical terminology used in golf in your country. Terms like "Slope Rating" and "Course Rating" are often the same across languages, while other terms like "Handicap Index" may have local translations.
If you are unsure about any terms, you can contact your local golf organization to get the correct terms used in your country.
We would like to thank the following people for their translation contributions:
By contributing translations, you are helping golfers around the world calculate their course handicaps easily and accurately.
All contributors will be credited in the plugin and on our website.
Golf is an international sport, and our goal is to make the tool available in as many languages as possible.
Your contribution helps us reach golfers in more countries and language regions.
If you have questions about the translation process or need help, don't hesitate to contact us at slope@slope.no.
